Mazie’s Mission, a Frisco-based animal rescue agency, will hold their 2nd annual BARC Gala on Friday, May 17, from 7-11 pm at the Frisco Embassy Suites. BARC stands for Build A Rescue Clinic, a capital campaign to raise funds to build the first ever veterinary hospital for homeless animals. According to Erin Shults, DVM and CEO of Mazie’s Mission, veterinary care is a huge challenge—and overwhelming expense—for cash-strapped rescue groups. “We euthanize over 200,000 animals in North Texas every year. Rescue groups and municipal shelters do their best to save as many animals as they can, but sometimes the cost of veterinary care can be overwhelming.
